BEAUJOLAIS NOUVEAU
Our Biggest Little Party of the Year.
THE TRADITION
The First Wine of the Vintage.
In France, Beaujolais Nouveau marks the arrival of the first wine of the new harvest—a reason to stop, open a bottle and celebrate the growing season just completed.
At Mahan, we've made the tradition our own.
Each November, just over 60 days after harvest, we gather behind the Secret Door for the first taste of the newest vintage. It's part wine tasting, part dinner party and entirely an excuse to celebrate that another harvest is behind us.
Closer than Paris. And considerably harder to find.
THE PARTY
Our Biggest Little Party of the Year.
For one night each November, we fill Mahan Speakeasy a little more than usual.
The candles come out. The room gets louder. Glasses are raised. Dinner is served. The piano joins in. And somewhere along the way, a barrel may even make an appearance.
Beaujolais Nouveau isn't one of our quiet evenings behind the Secret Door. It's a celebration—intentionally.
One very full Speakeasy, and the kind of night that feels bigger than the room holding it.
ONE NIGHT. EVERY NOVEMBER.

THE WINE / THIS YEAR'S VINTAGE
A Vintage With Its Own Story.
Beaujolais Nouveau is our first look at what the vineyard has to say this year.
Roughly two months after harvest, the newest vintage is still at the beginning of its journey. It hasn't followed the full cellar protocol required of a wine that will eventually carry the Mahan name—but that's precisely why we pour it.
Each year, Phil makes only about a gallon from two vines at Granite Ridge Vineyard. Tasted beside the previous year's wine, it becomes an early glimpse into the vintage—the growing season, the vineyard and even what those deep roots may have discovered beneath the glacial moraine.
It isn't the finished story of the vintage. It's the first chapter.
This isn't the finished vintage. It's the first glimpse of it.
And perhaps the most interesting pour is the one beside it.
Each year, we pour the new vintage alongside the previous year's Nouveau—a small vertical tasting of the same vineyard and the same deeply rooted vines, separated by one growing season.
As those vines mature and their roots explore the layers of glacial moraine beneath Granite Ridge, each vintage gives us another glimpse into the relationship between the growing season, the land and what ultimately reaches the glass.
One vineyard. Two vintages. A story still being written.

BEHIND THE SECRET DOOR
The Party Is Hidden in Plain Sight.
Once a year, the Secret Door opens for something different. Mahan Speakeasy trades its intimate wine-bar rhythm for the biggest little party of the year—an evening built around the first taste of what just came from the vineyard.
From the outside, you might never guess what's happening below.
Mahan Speakeasy is our intimate wine bar in Bloomingdale, Illinois—a place created for gathering around wine, food and the people worth sharing both. On Beaujolais Nouveau night, guests arrive through the Secret Door and descend into a candlelit room transformed for one of our favorite traditions.
Come for the new vintage. Stay for dinner, live piano and a room full of people ready to celebrate.
What happens behind the Secret Door rarely feels ordinary.
MEMBERS COME FIRST
Before the SECRET DOOR Opens to Everyone,
Wine Club members get the first invitation. Early access to Beaujolais Nouveau is one of the privileges of being closer to the vineyard, the cellar and what comes next.
Some Mahan traditions are simply too small to accommodate everyone.
Beaujolais Nouveau is one of them.
Wine Club members receive early access to reservations for our annual Beaujolais Nouveau celebration—before remaining places are offered to our subscribers and the public.
Because when we're filling the Speakeasy for our Biggest Little Party of the Year,
Membership has its privileges.
