We’re thrilled to share some exciting news with our Mahan Family Wines community — our 2023 Merlot has been awarded a Bronze Medal at the prestigious Texas International Wine Competition!
This highly respected competition drew over 750 entries from 29 U.S. states and 12 countries, with wines judged by industry experts and professionals from around the globe. To have our Merlot recognized among such an impressive field — including many large, commercial wineries — is a true honor and a moment of pride for our small, family-run operation.
This award is a testament to our commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and the unique character of our Granite Ridge Vineyard fruit. We’re incredibly grateful for the recognition and humbled to be placed alongside some of the best wines in the world.
As we celebrate this achievement, the cycle of the vineyard begins again. Bud break is just beginning here at Granite Ridge, marking the start of another growing season. Our Winemaker, Phil, is already deep in thought, planning and preparing for what lies ahead in 2025. It’s going to be a long year of hard work, but if this past vintage is any indication — it’s going to be worth it.
