The Vinemaker
Phil Mahan is an award-winning winemaker & fourth-generation agriculturalist. Phil finished his winemaking program at University of California, Davis (most known for the Robert Mondavi research lab) after completing his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture at Colorado State University. Traveling through winemaking regions of France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Austria and Germany inspired Phil to interact with others who want to experience the art, science and wonder of bringing a wine to life, starting with the fruit from the vine. Finally, after years of dedication, his dream is realized.
The Vinemaker’s Wife
Ann Mahan is a lifelong wine (and Phil) enthusiast. She has mastered each part of the winemaking experience alongside Phil. From planting and tending to harvesting and crushing. On a driving trip through Austrian wine country, she and Phil dreamt up a future where they could bring the essence of wine travel to their backyard in Harbor Country, Michigan; a future where they could nurture the earth and nurture new relationships which shared a mutual love: slowing down time over a bottle of wine and deep belly laughs.
The Vinemaker’s Daughter
Stef Caldwell is the daughter of Ann and Phil. Your parents give you life, and that is the greatest gift; but witnessing your parents bring to life their eternal dream is the closest second. From planting and nurturing the grapes, to drafting and erecting the vineyard facility, to laughing over the explosions and failed wine experiments in the basement of her childhood home, to seeing her parent’s love create something from nothing and raising up from the earth the bounty of a fruitful harvest… she’s been there through it all and despite their best attempts, they can’t shake her.
